Hope for good clean shots and making putts for the Spartans today at the Stanford home course.

Not so good news for Trevor Pendleton:

Too bad for TP. However the guy has a good head on his shoulders. Ended up playing at MSU because of previous bad breaks; which turned out to be the best break of all.

    Make the putts, Ladies

So Palfrey is bombed in the 1st and Asmus wan’t made a move yet?

    The guy is clueless

      And then he settles in?

Texas Starting pitcher worse than the Tigers starter, wow

Note that the golfers are seeded 11th in the Stanford Region. If they have as good a day as Thursday [+7], I think they will advance.

Spartan baseball is in the first of three days of games with Nebraska. The Cornhuskers are up 3-1 early in the 4th inning. A GameTracker link follows:

Spartan softball defeated Ohio State yesterday, 6-0. They are playing again and about to get underway. (They also play tomorrow.) A GameTracker link follows:

MSU just did not have it to advance.

Once again Asmus leaves a pitcher in 1 pitch too long and it’s now tied.

Ascus belongs in the frigging retirement home someplace not managing the Tigers HE HAS NO CLUE

DJ is o-fore and looking bad doing that – wow, but their is no bench to speak of (their collective batting averages doesn’t boil water), so there ya go.

Ausmus gives up 6 runs by not being able to manage the pitching staff and the Tigers only able to score 5

  • Jeffrey Lubeck writes:
    May 7th, 20163:19 pmat

Seeing this is Derby Day is it possible Ausmus is deliberately having the Tigers sit back at the pack and then come from behind in the stretch?

      No.

    * To quote MSUSpartans.com, “Sarah Burnham qualified to play in the NCAA Women’s Golf Championships after winning a two-hole playoff in the third and final round of the NCAA Stanford Regional on Saturday.”

    * Errors apparently contributed to MSU Baseball’s loss to NE yesterday. Game 2 of their three-game series is underway; here is the GameTracker link:

    * The softball team plays OSU at 3:00 Eastern.

Yesterday, I misread an intermediate softball score as a final in an earlier Comment. (And regret the error.) OSU still won, but the final was 9-7.

Two home sweeps in the first 5 weeks of the season. A record of 1-8 against the division ( not including the Twins.)

Top comments from Tiger fans today:

“Tigers down 5000 a game from last year. That’s around 300k for a full season. What’s that translate in revenue? $30,000,000 or more? What say you Mr. I?”

” Wouldn’t it make sense to stop using the “How to Watch” headline for Tigers games?”

“Lots of brooms for sale in Detroit past 2 weeks. First Cleveland and now Texas.”

Wonder what FSD is doing compared to years past, bet that’s down, too. (which equates to what the sponsors spend, I’m sure)

Softball gets out of a bases loaded jam in the 5th with a liner to 3rd and a bounce out to 1st, still lead it 4-3 (game is on BTN)

Seems the ACC still has sway with the this committee, too. 4 teams got it when pundits said that maybe they’d have 2. We shall see who is was right.

MSU Baseball lost to Nebraska today, 7-4. The Spartans are now 31-13 overall and tied (with NE) for fourth in the 13-team* B1G at 11-7. They are two games behind first-place Indiana–and two games ahead of ninth-place Illinois.

Tomorrow, the Spartans play WMU in Kalamazoo. Wednesday, they play EMU at Comerica Park. This weekend they go to 10th place Iowa. One week from tomorrow, they play at CMU. They host eighth-place Maryland the following weekend to end the regular season.

*No Wisconsin, apparently. Maybe they spend the money on curling, instead?

No baseball, but softball (they have 1 more women sport than mens)

Lacrosse on the rise at the HS level and with Marquette’s (6 seed in the tourney) success this year (after only 3 years – same as Paris which haven’t had a winning season yet)

Animal LET’S the runner steal 2nd by not paying attention to him and Ausmus is sitting in the dugout with this look on his face of what am I supposed to do? So he goes out and leaves Anabal in and the Nat pitcher bunts his way on as Anabal errs.

Before they even score I will just say Ausmus leaves Anabal in 1 too many pitches. He continues to NOT give the Tigers a chance to win

Another lose chargeable to Ausmus and his unbelievably bad management

    • NorthForkRancher writes:
      May 9th, 20169:44 pmat

Announcers got it right~~ Ausmus forgot to use a pinch runner for an injured Cabrera in the 8th, and also wasted Victor as a pinch hitter.

Overheard this gem~~ [and if you missed the game–a pitcher named Lowe pitched 1/3 of an inning and gave up a walk-off homer for the Nationals’ win tonight—after a BAD outing just yesterday.]

“After Mark Lowe gave up 19 runs yesterday, you’d think maybe, just maybe — Brad Ausmus may have given him today off. But no, better to send him out there again in a pressure situation. I’m thinking maybe Ausmus is trying to get fired. Sorry, but there have just been way too many managerial moves that have worked against him….”

      • NorthForkRancher writes:
        May 9th, 20169:46 pmat

        John Smith tweeted—-
“Ausmus used 3 bench players in half an inning and Dusty Baker took him to school on how to manage. You bring out Victor with first base open? What do you think Baker is going to do, pitch to him? The announcers were questioning his every move..so it’s not just us Detroit fans who are scratching our heads asking “What is he doing”? Then he throws Lowe out there after he struggled the night before and said to everyone that Lowe was probably tired from pitching three days in a row…so he’s not tired pitching 4 days in a row…C’mon Brad you are not making any sense.”

        • USMC Retired writes:
          May 10th, 20165:36 amat

the question should no longer be ‘if’ but ‘when’ does he get fired. And it’s not just their year. This is stuff he may have gotten a pass on the 1st year – it’s still stupid, but it was his 1st year, but not anymore. MLB could spend and entire day showing lowlights of Ausmus blunders.

          • NorthForkRancher writes:
            May 10th, 20166:51 amat

Time for Brad to borrow the famous Darryl Rogers quote~~
Darryl Rogers~”Whats it take to get fired around here anyhow?”

Getting back to MSU Sports, just heard that Conner Cook signed a 4 year deal with da Raidahs for just under 3 mil.

    • 89 Chemistry writes:
      May 10th, 20164:08 pmat

At the time he was drafted I saw a Tweet saying that he would be guaranteed $600,000 per year as the 100th selection. It sounds like the Raiders went ~20% over the minimum. I think that will help Cook’s bottom line somewhat in a trade deal*, but still thrifty for the Raiders.

*Which could happen as early as next year if the forecasts for a poor 2017 rookie QB class hold true.
